Free and Friendly Foods Creme Cookie Ice Cream

Cookies N Cream Ice Cream Recipe

Sigh. Can you believe it? This is the last post of Ice Cream Week. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure I’ll come up with new ideas, such as birthday cake ice cream (yup, I have been thinking about that one for a while) and Bubble Gum (still trying to find the gum), and a few others, something with heat, something that’s sweet; you get the idea. So, with a slightly saddened heart, I share with you the final post. You know that song, na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye. Yes, that’s what’s playing on my mental radio.

Free and Friendly Foods S'more Ice Cream

S’more Ice Cream Recipe

Late one night, when the kids should have been asleep, Kid Three wanted to be part of the conversation. The Papa and I were talking about supply and demand (at which point Kid Two wanted to get involved) and just all things related to the business. We then got on the topic of ice cream, and some of the ideas that I had to use with the machine, knowing that I wanted to have an ice cream theme week, and that I’m working on an ice cream book. Kid Three suggested Bubble Gum Ice Cream, which I thought would be really cool, at which point S’more Ice Cream hit me like a ton of bricks (as did many other good ideas). Once made, the kids went wild for this ice cream flavor. I was afraid the marshmallows were going to get hard and be weird, but in the end, everything turned out just right, and they all lived happily ever after. Yup, still trying to be a comedian. So, I present you with S’more Ice Cream!

Allergy Status: Wheat/Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Egg Free, Nut Free, Peanut Free, Sesame Free, Vegan, Soy Free Compatible

For Soy Free: Use a safe non-dairy milk alternative. Be sure to source soy free marshmallows (not the Dandees brand) and graham crackers (not Kinnikinnick). I have yet to see GF SF graham crackers, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t out there, and you could always make some. However, if you can have gluten, there are plenty of soy free options. Read More

Free and Friendly Foods Maple Bacon Ice Cream

Paleo & GAPs Maple Bacon Ice Cream Recipe

Did I tell you the kids love bacon? Especially Kid Two. He just loves it. And they all enjoy trying the “fancier” packages from Good Eggs from time to time. I will say though, they’re not at the extreme level yet where they want bacon covered chocolate. So, I got to thinking about ice cream one night, and BOOM! Maple Bacon Ice Cream. Bacon? goooood. Ice Cream? goooood. Maple? Greeeat, because Kid Three tolerates it much better than cane sugar. I knew in that moment that because bacon would be involved, it had to be Paleo so everyone could have a nice big bowl of it.

Free and Friendly Foods Ice Cream Topping

Ice Cream Topping – Balsamic Fruit Recipe

If you love stone fruits, balsamic vinegar, and/or non-traditional toppings, please keep reading. In my head (remember, I can’t eat any of this stuff) this recipe is a great idea. It has a fancy title, and seems like something you would find in an up-scale restaurant. Well, needless to say, the kids, and The Papa couldn’t see themselves at an up-scale restaurant. Poor me, I don’t live in a house of people who understand fancy. I’m sure someone out there will appreciate this recipe, make it their own, and give it a try.

This one is SO special and near and dear to my heart. I ate some. YUP. I ATE SOME. I had to source safe items from various places, but did you hear the news? I ATE THIS SORBET! Free and Friendly Foods Pale Chocolate Ice Cream

Organic Paleo & Vegan Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe

Chocolate ice cream is a classic flavor, so it was only fitting that it was included in Ice Cream Week. This was one of my earlier creations when we first purchased the ice cream machine, so the kids were over the moon in love with it. The best part during the recipe development was each flavor kept improving, or introducing them to something new they had never thought of before. I’d giggle to myself occasionally, thinking, just wait until next time.

Some may think that because this is Paleo, or lacks cane sugar, it may be no good. I’m here to let you know that The Papa gave this ice cream his full stamp of approval. Sometimes he tells me, “if this is all a person can have, I think it’s great.” Not with this ice cream. He fully enjoyed it, as did all of the kids. Ready to make some chocolatey goodness?

Free and Friendly Foods Lemon Gingerbread Ice Cream

Lemon Gingerbread Ice Cream Recipe

I don’t know why, but I have a thing about lemon gingerbread. Can I let you in on a little secret though? I’ve never eaten the combo, and even as a child, I didn’t like gingerbread cookies. Either way, this idea was one of the firsts that I had when we purchased the ice cream machine. I think it stems from having the Lemon Gingerbread Mini Cupcake for the Bakery, and somehow, this flavor combo just pairs so well together in my head. Cake and ice cream anyone?
