40124 Winter Fun
LOVE IT! It’s cute, it’s small, it’s everything that expresses the joy of snow… The mini snowman was just right for the set, and I like it better than the big snowman. I will admit, it lacks details like the large one, but, I don’t know what it is about it. The brick facade on the building is lovely, and I wouldn’t mind building out the house a bit more. It’s just so quaint. I will say that the snow on top could use a little work. It’s a bit too flat for my liking. I love that I get a little Christmas tree, but I felt that the wreath on the door was unnecessary. Maybe because it’s strangely put together? I’m not sure. Overall, I would rate this set a 8/10. Yes, it’s up there with the big sets only because of how well put together it is.
40125 Santa’s Arrival
Like 40124, I just love this set. The details are all there. The beautiful chair that swivels, the cookies, the fireplace, the tree. Could I ask for anything else? My only complaint with the set would be the “stockings” hanging over the fireplace. I know this sounds strange, but I would have preferred to see LEGO create a custom piece for this. It’s something that could be used in other holiday sets, so it would pay for itself. And considering they made a mould for the hotdog guy, this is so worth it. There’s just something so unnatural about the L piece being a hanging stocking. From a distance, it’s not such a big deal. However, up close. eh. Also, I don’t know that I needed the cat. I could see a little kid loving the cat. Maybe it’s because I’m allergic to them? Like 40124, the wreath wasn’t too necessary for me to like the set. Overall, I would give this set a high rating because it’s small and quick, yet detailed and full of joy.
