I Must Be Doing Something Right…
Thanks, I think. Somehow, I must be doing something right because this blog is getting a steady steam of spam comments. I just wanted to extend my thanks to you for adding my url to your daily bot routine. What would I do without you? You know, I have to tell you, I find it interesting that you are so thoughtful to write me notes that look somewhat real. Also, thanks a ton for all of the suggestions on how I can make my blog number one on google. Lastly, I just want to let you know that you can let me know if this isn’t working out for you and you need to move on to greener pastures.
You Dear Friend,
Helping People is Harder Than I Thought it Would Be
So, when you’re an overweight individual, you don’t approach overweight people and say something like “I can help!” They will look at you and most likely laugh. Now that I’m not such an overweight individual, I still can’t go to overweight people and say “I can help!” This has become my new struggle. Sure, I could walk around with a shirt on that says “I use to weigh over 400 pounds and I can help you,” but I get the feeling I would look silly.
I had to do a transaction last week that required my ID. The person looking at it couldn’t stop staring and making comments, at which point I had the opportunity to share information. I even told this person that they look like they have a food allergy or intolerance, and described some of the obvious symptoms. I directed them to the site, told them to contact me, and nothing…
This is where I get confused I suppose. I’ve tried to get the word out there, and I’m not going to stop. But how on earth do I help people?! I think I’m slowly realizing what all presidents do: although we can dream big and try to change the world, we’re still dealing with people and their established habits. We can’t change things overnight.
Every day, I see a child that’s overweight, and my heart breaks for them. I also realize that some of them have parents that just can’t afford to feed them healthy food. I’m stuck between my dream and reality. I don’t want more people to suffer if they don’t have to. However, could it be that a lot of people don’t even know they’re suffering? Are they victims of the “pill for every ill” nation that we live in?
Needless to say, I’m still trying to find ways to tell people the message, and to educate people on the power of food. Have ideas? I’d love to hear them!
